Our horses are bred primarily for temperament, aesthetics (looks) and performance. All of our horses have been bred on our farm and have been handled daily since the day they were born, consequently, they are very "people friendly" horses, all with very loving and gentle personalities. Marshall Kelly is an old time cowboy, but
believes in breaking and training horses with love and a lot of patience. Our horses are broke to trail ride, but nothing more. While we, not surprisingly, have found that many of them have done very well in quarter horse show categories, like Roping, Team Pinning, Western Pleasure and Barrel Racing; some have also gone on to be trained and compete in Hunter Jumper and Jumper/Jumper classes, as well. Expert trainers tell us that they love the Kelly horses, because of their calm, quiet, temperament and athletic abilities.

Kelly West is also a riding ranch and we do board horses in a pasture environment for seasoned adult riders who want to purchase a horse from our stock and maintain it on our premises. The ranch consists of 160 3/4 wooded and 1/4 rolling pastured acres over 10 acres of pine forest and a rushing creek flowing through it. We have cut over 15 miles of trails on the farm for trail riding and have a barn facility and round pen for training purposes. Future plans are to build an indoor riding arena and expand the barn to contain additional stalls. A fully furnished guest house is also available for weekend stayovers and entertaining. While we are not a professional boarding facility, we do offer a unique environment for riders who don't have their own facilities and land on which to ride.
Weekends are usually very social at the ranch and lots of riders come out to enjoy the horses and beautiful scenery, so a riding buddy is never hard to find. Christine Kelly is also a gourmet cook and loves to bestow her
guests with samples of her culinary delights in between rides.

If you are interested in a horse, we offer all of our prospective buyers a non-committal weekend stay at the ranch to come enjoy the horses, our food, and wine, and hopefully find the horse of their dreams. If not, we hope
that at least we will have made some new friends and enjoyed our time together do what we love most..... riding horses.
